Our Mission
The Edible Gardens Project is a local effort to build long-time food security, improve nutrition, reconnect people with where food comes from, build community, and relocalize/take back control of food production from corporate "Big Agriculture."
Our Goals
The goals of The Edible Gardens Project are to:
Grow as much food as we can as a community
Educate the community on reasons to grow our own food
Educate ourselves and the community on gardening techniques, including square-foot and biodynamic gardening
Learn about permaculture design and share that information
Raise interest among youth in green jobs in agriculture
Involve children in gardening to connect them with where their food comes from
Provide a portion of what we grow to our local food pantries
Identify opportunities for turning local land over to growing food
Encourage local eating in the community
Build community through activities around the gardening project, including workshops, working together, and celebrations
