Our Mission

The Edible Gardens Project is a local effort to build long-time food security, improve nutrition, reconnect people with where food comes from, build community, and relocalize/take back control of food production from corporate "Big Agriculture."

Our Goals

The goals of The Edible Gardens Project are to:

  • Grow as much food as we can as a community
  • Educate the community on reasons to grow our own food
  • Educate ourselves and the community on gardening techniques, including square-foot and biodynamic gardening
  • Learn about permaculture design and share that information
  • Raise interest among youth in green jobs in agriculture
  • Involve children in gardening to connect them with where their food comes from
  • Provide a portion of what we grow to our local food pantries
  • Identify opportunities for turning local land over to growing food
  • Encourage local eating in the community
  • Build community through activities around the gardening project, including workshops, working together, and celebrations
