Who Are We?

Members of the Edible Gardens Project are neighbors, colleagues, new friends and old friends, community activists, long-time gardeners and novice gardeners, vegetarians and omnivores, parents, students, individuals and members of organizations and churches, who have joined in a collective effort to grow our own food and take back control of our food supply.

If you're concerned about the source of your food, nutrition, food safety, food security, building community, helping children learn more about where their food comes from, or growing your own delicious food, you can join us.

This project began in Highland Park, New Jersey, but there are other similar projects springing up all over the country. If there isn't one where you live, we hope you'll use the information you find here to help start your own Edible Gardens Project.

Farmer Solidarity Project

The Farmer Solidarity Fund supports the work of the peasant farmers movement to organize and mobilize at the grassroots level against corporate power in food and agriculture, free trade, groups like the WTO, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund.

Trinity United Methodist Church

In their call and commitment to change the world, Trinity United Methodist Church has joined the Edible Gardens Project by turning space on church property into garden space, a portion of which will be devoted to growing food for the local food pantry.
